ASI/SILICA’S
Dual Atmospheric Chemical Vapor Core System

This dual spindle system is an outside vapor deposition system capable of depositing germanium doped silica soot — it is used to fabricate single-mode optical fiber core preforms of the highest quality.

One of ASI/Silica’s many original machines.

DUAL CORE/DUAL CLAD SINTER SYSTEMS
DUAL CORE/DUAL CLAD SINTER SYSTEMS

ASI/SILICA Machinery’s Dual Clad Sintering Systems are designed to provide quality drying and consolidation of silica soot preforms. When used in combination with the other core making and preform making equipment available from ASI/Silica, preforms can be made that can be directly drawn into optical fiber. The Clad Sintering Systems are a reliable, repeatable, automatic production source for high temperature silica processing in a controlled atmosphere. With a unique ground loading capability, the systems provide both easy and safe operating conditions.

ROD DRAW SYSTEM
ROD DRAW SYSTEM

The Rod Draw System is used to elongate or stretch glass preforms resulting in a decrease in diameter and an increase in length. It’s primary purpose will be to elongate core preforms which can be cut into multiple core rods for the deposition of additional cladding using ASI/Silica Machinery LLC’s OVD overcladding system. It may also be used to elongate and smooth fully cladded preforms, if desired. In this case, the resulting elongated preform is then drawn into single-mode optical fiber (or cut into multiple preforms before drawing). The systems are comprised of four main parts, a main structure, a furnace, an elongation pulling system, and a process control subsystem.

PREFORM SOAKING SYSTEMS

This system is used to heat glass preforms after they have been sintered— enabling the excess gas still trapped in the preform to escape .
